More than a night of great music, Live Sessions is about the complete experience—exceptional food, crafted cocktails and wine, outstanding live performances, and the energy of a great crowd coming together under the Los Angeles sky.
The series is curated by Ryan Cross, Entertainment Director of Live Sessions at The Clark, bringing decades of experience in music, entertainment, and live performance to this new Los Angeles destination.
Born and raised in Seattle, Ryan moved to Los Angeles after receiving a full scholarship to the University of Southern California, where he studied under acclaimed bassist and Grammy Award-winning musician John Clayton. Ryan graduated from USC Thornton with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies in 1999.
A bassist, cellist, composer, musical contractor, and producer, Ryan received Grammy recognition for his bass performance on Beyoncé’s Grammy Award-winning album Lemonade. He has also performed or recorded with an extraordinary roster of artists, including Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Stevie Wonder, Michael Bublé, John Legend, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Natalie Cole, Jill Scott, Macy Gray, Meghan Trainor, and Arturo Sandoval.
Ryan’s work extends beyond the stage, with credits spanning more than 100 television shows and films, including Glee, The Voice, American Idol, All American, Criminal Minds, Jane the Virgin, NCIS, Friends, ER, The West Wing, and The Big Bang Theory. He has also produced live entertainment at notable Los Angeles venues, bringing together exceptional musicians and vocalists for distinctive live experiences.
A longtime advocate for music education, Ryan has maintained a relationship with the Los Angeles Jazz Society and participated in outreach to schools throughout Los Angeles, encouraging young people to discover and participate in music.
At Live Sessions at The Clark, Ryan brings all of that experience to a new stage—curating intimate evenings of contemporary jazz, soul, exceptional vocal performances, and special musical guests, complemented by the food, cocktails, atmosphere, and energy of Votana and La Terrasse.
